What must I do to be saved?

We are all born in sin, because mankind is fallen. Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden and that caused a separation from a holy God. Every one of us has sinned. (Rom.3:23) "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." God doesn't grade on a curve.

But God had a plan to restore fellowship with us. He sent his Son to be one of us, to live on this earth. Jesus left the glories of heaven and was born in a sheep stall. He grew up working hard as a carpenter. He began his ministry when He was about 30. For three and a half years He taught, preached, healed and showed what a sinless life was like.

Jesus revealed that He was the Messiah and the son of God. These claims, though true, infuriated the religious leaders who saw him as a rival to their power over the people. They plotted to have Him killed. They maneuvered the Romans into executing Him, because they didn't have the authority. They hung Him on a cross and there He died between two thieves. He was laid in a borrowed tomb. The Jews were worried because He had prophesied that He would rise from the dead on the third day. The Romans posted guards on the tomb, but they couldn't stop His resurrection. On the third day, He was resurrected. His disciples and over 500 witnesses saw Him.

In John 14:5 Jesus said "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
To be saved You must admit that you are a sinner and ask Jesus to forgive you and receive Him as your Lord. Romans 10:13 says "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Jesus took the punishment that you deserved and died so that you could have new life. But you must receive His free gift of salvation.
Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Eph.2:8-9 "for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the work of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."

John 1:12 "But as many as received Christ, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe on His name."

If you have made the decision to follow Christ, and have asked Him to forgive you, then you are a new creation! Today is your spiritual birthday, and the angels in heaven are rejoicing! You have passed from death to life and changed your eternal destiny!

If you have made this decision today, let me know. I would love to rejoice with you. Or if you haven't yet made this crucial step, ask me any questions that would help you.
